Balderdash

Balderdash is a classic board game where 2 or more players of any age earn points for guessing the correct answer, or fooling others into believing your incorrect answer is in fact correct. Designed for a 30 to 60-minute session, Balderdash has players take turns being a ‘Dasher’ who reads out an unheard of word.

Everyone then writes down a potential definition that the dasher reads out-loud—including the real one. Players then vote on which one is correct. Points are earned for writing the correct definition, for voting on the correct definition, and for acquiring the winning vote by bluffing. If the dasher accidentally or purposefully reveals that a player’s definition is fake prior to completion of the voting process, that player is said to have been “discombalderated.” Or if you elect your own fake definition in an attempt to inject credibility, that’s called a “downstream balder.” Critics say that though it “sounds boring, it’s not!”
