Axis & Allies 1942
$23.00
Released October, 2009
The Pros:Remains faithful to the original Axis & Allies 1941 edition - rule changes are relatively minor, leaving beloved gameplay elements intact. Excellent option for users who prefer detailed, in-depth board games - affordable price point somewhat justifies lack of physical game pieces. Great for teenagers and young adults with a thirst for learning - teaches foresight and strategy skills alongside detailed and accurate WWII history.
The Cons:Doesn't provide physical money pieces - keeping track of funds via paper and pencil may hinder the gaming experience for some players. Very few grey/red chips included to represent multiple units - significantly diminishes multiplayer functionality. General lack of physical components is disappointing - planning trays, dice and military vehicles are scarcely available.
Axis and Allies 1942 is a low-end update to the popular Avalon Hill board game. The purpose of the game is to capture more territories than your opponent. It features an entire new class of ship, 370 game pieces, and an updated rulebook.

This edition of Axis and Allies uses a new Cruiser ship. This ship will enable plays to create new types of strategies, keeping the game interesting. The game uses 370 pieces, giving each player many pieces to use against their opponent, and also allowing games to continue for long durations. This game also features an updated rulebook that originally debuted in Axis and Allies Anniversary Edition, keeping the game up to date. When compared to another Axis and Allies board game, Axis and Allies Europe 1940, Axis and Allies 1942 has some disadvantages, including a smaller board and less combat units.
